Keeping you and your possessions secured

We’ve teamed up with Cover4Insurance, to provide you with comprehensive insurance protection for possessions inside your room with us.

By partnering with Cover4Insurance, we’ve arranged contents insurance for all the students staying with us at no extra cost.

It’s important that you check your cover to ensure you understand what is and isn’t covered.

      What is covered?

Basic cover insures your personal possessions on a new for old basis against theft (whether or not someone physically breaks into your room/flat), fire, burst pipes, storm, vandalism, flood, explosion and lighting.

This insurance will provide a range of cover for your possessions within your accommodation such as cover for your laptop, electrical goods, clothes, sports equipment and frozen food.

In the event of a claim, items will be replaced as new, regardless of age or condition (except clothing, linen and rented household goods where a deduction is made for wear and tear).

For more details, please consult your policy.

Can I extend my policy to cover other items?

Yes, you may find that you need more cover than is arranged already by us.

For example, you may wish to add Mobile Phone Insurance (as Mobiles are excluded from the basic cover). See the website for more details.

      Where are you insured?

You are covered within your accommodation, or any place of residence at which you are temporarily residing and in direct transit to and from your home address at the beginning and end of each term.

    • Rent is due 14 days before the contract start date if paying in instalments or on 1st August before the contract start date if paying in full in a single instalment, and rent must be paid before a student can move in to the property. It is very important that students communicate any difficulties meeting this obligation to the Property Manager as early as possible to prevent any issues.

If agreed by the Property Manager, and providing the correct supporting evidence is supplied, students may be allowed to defer the first payment of rent to fit in with student loan schedules, for example.

If agreed, a minimum of 2 weeks’ rent* must be paid before the student moves in and any deferment of rent is subject to an admin fee of £50 to set up the deferred payment schedule which will also need to be paid before the student moves in.
    • For students that rebook their room, they are able to have their deposits transferred over from one year to the next, within in Deposit Protection Service. For more information please contact the Sales Team.

    • Students that have booked to stay at Bowline between 5th February 2021 and midnight 4th March are permitted to cancel their booking up until midnight on the 30th April 2021. Students that have booked to stay at Bowline from the 5th March 2021 until 16th May 2021 are eligible to cancel their booking by midnight on the 31st May 2021.

From the 17th May 2021 the standard 2 week cooling off period will apply to all bookings. We reserve the right to withdraw or change this promotion at any time, and the new terms in place will then apply to bookings made after any amendment.
    • Our full termination policy is detailed for you within the booking section of our website. Please read it carefully and ensure that you fully understand it.

You can cancel your booking up to 7 days after you accept your offer or pay your deposit (the Initial Cancellation Period), providing you have not already moved in to the property and we will refund your security deposit in full. Deposits will normally be refunded within 28 days of cancellation, however our legal obligation as a landlord is to secure all deposits with a third party protection scheme. In the event that your deposit has already been sent to the protection scheme by the time you cancel your booking, your refund could take up to 60 days to be refunded due to the protection scheme’s processing period and your deposit refund will come directly from them – you will need your repayment ID which will be sent to you directly by the protection scheme. If the deposit has already been sent to the deposit protection scheme, unfortunately, we are unable to influence their processing time.

If you cancel your booking after the 7 day Initial Cancellation Period, you will remain liable for the weekly rent (for each and every week or part week) until we are able to re-let the room. If we are able to re-let the room we will release you from the agreement upon payment of a £250 release fee which we will recover by retaining your deposit (which will not, therefore, be returned). If you have paid a lower deposit amount, that’s the amount that will be retained.
