Fun Things To Do In Nottingham

Table of Contents

There are loads of fun things to do in Nottingham, as it is a large enough city that offers a wide range of events, activities, art and culture, sports, and great nightlife.

The great part about this city is that it also has a small feel to it so, you can plug into a community and make real friends, whether with other students or the locals.

We’ve put together a list of some of the most fun places you should visit as a student in Nottingham, the quirky and the wonderful that you might not necessarily have heard about before – not your bog-standard bar and club on a night out.

Whether you’re looking for adult-themed mini golf, a crazy VR experience, or you like to be beside the seaside with an unforgettable arcade experience, Nottingham has you covered.

Here are 5 of the most fun things to do in Nottingham as a student living in Straits Village!

1. GloryHoles Nottingham

If you’re looking for fun things to do in Nottingham and you love crazy golf, this adult mini-golf course is epic.

GloryHoles gives you the chance to play 18 holes whilst laughing your way around the course with friends, and the quirky venue is incredible with innuendo and bright lights everywhere you turn.

Afterwards, there are plenty of arcade games to play, drinks to be had, and delicious pizza to share!

It’s a raunchy play on golf, as the name suggests, so if you like a pun that’s a bit blue and you want to play some mini golf with mates, this is definitely the place for you.

Ticket prices begin at £10 and though they do accept walk-ins we recommend you book in advance for your group.

Especially if you’re after a fun day/night out for a celebration with your mates and don’t want to be disappointed at the door.

Address: George Street, NG1 3BH

2. Bada Bingo

Bingo isn’t what it used to be.

At Bada Bingo you can go for a fun, cheap night out, and when you arrive you might be forgiven for thinking you’ve stepped back in time and gone to a traditional bingo hall, with sticky carpets, bright walls, and the old school rows of tables and chairs.

This isn’t your normal game of bingo though, instead its raucous, loud, confetti falls from the air and flashing lights are on as they pump out the old school RnB and pop classics from the 90s.

It’s a bingo rave night like no other with tickets starting from £8.

So, get your dabbers at the ready and get ‘in a state – 28’ and make ‘time for fun – 41’ as you become a bingo king or queen.

3. Penny Lane

Penny Lane takes its inspiration from the seaside arcades from yesteryear.

It’s one of the best places to go for an active, fun night out in Nottingham, with plenty of arcade games and vintage machines for the competitive souls who always want to get one over on their mates!

It does have the nostalgic seaside feel throughout, so you can pick up an ice cream, play air hockey, and a range of other games to compete.

It’s free entry, but you do need to pay for tokens to use the machines.

Aside from all the fun and games, Penny Lane is known for its great 2-4-1 cocktail menu and fantastic food, such as halloumi fries and the sticky, naughty Penny Lane hot dogs.

It’s no wonder this place has racked up over 11k followers, it’s the place to be!

4. MeetspaceVR

Meetspace VR gives you a night out like no other as a student in Nottingham.

Whether you’re familiar with virtual reality or not, you’ll most likely not have experienced it in this way before.

meetspace VR is a virtual reality event space where you and up to eight players can battle robots on spaceships, zombies in a Walking Dead style world, and battle against each other in this wholly immersive game.

The best part is that it’s literally over the road from your Straits Village student accommodation, so you don’t have far to go at all – it’s just a 1 minute walk!

You’ll be kitted out in some great tech, headsets, weapons and backpacks before being let loose in the 300sqm VR arena.

There are 7 games to choose from at the moment, and the Zero Latency experience is well worth the price and a lot of fun to have with your friends.

It’s also a great place to meet like-minded people and make new friends along the way.

Prices start at £19.95 per person, depending on the day and time of day you choose to visit, that’s for a 30-minute Zero Latency session.
