There are some incredible games bars in Sheffield close by your Sheffield student apartments so you can have a good time and unleash your competitive streak. 

We’ve put together a list of the best games bars Sheffield has to offer, all within easy reach of your student home – you’re welcome!

What’s it like to live in Sheffield? 

Our Straits Manor student apartments are perfect for students attending any of the universities, the Dental Hospital, The Sheffield College, or Royal Hallamshire Hospital. 

Each university is within easy walking or cycling distance, as well as the games bars we’ll be discussing below. 

Sheffield is always buzzing, a great student and local nightlife with plenty going on, loads of diverse and historical music venues and scenes, and of course, a fervent gaming culture.

Games Night At Straits Manor 

Straits Manor is the perfect Sheffield student apartment, located in the heart of this vibrant city. 

Luxury studio living provides students with their own private bathroom and kitchen, ultra-fast Wi-Fi to help you get access to what you need in your study spaces, large comfy beds, communal dining spaces to get to know your neighbours, as well as an on-site gym, cinema, and communal lounge.

1. National Video Game Museum (NVM)

Just a 10-minute walk from Straits Manor and within walking distance of some other classic games bars in Sheffield, the NVM is unforgettable, an experience like no other for gaming lovers. 

It’s an interactive experience, with entry costing £11, but we guarantee you’ll have a great time and love every second of it. 

‘The Arcade’ and ‘The Lab’ are two unique attractions; the first offers classic arcade games whilst the latter offers modern creativity where you can create your own video game.

2. Boom Battle Bar Sheffield 

If you’re after a quick fix of some amazing games and a fun time with your mates, Boom Battle Bar is just a 7-minute walk from Straits Manor. 

There are loads and loads of games for you to throw yourself into, such as crazy golf, axe throwing, augmented reality darts, table football, and more. 

There are big screens that show football and karaoke for some fun sing-alongs! 

Each event has a different price but it’s all reasonable. 

Trust us, this is one of the best games bars in Sheffield. 

Plus, you can have a few drinks with your friends without breaking the bank – stretch that student loan further!

3. Picture House Social

Despite being a bit further afield from Straits Manor, being a 20-minute bus ride from your student home, the Picture House Social covers all the bases. 

It’s a great place to venture with a group of friends for a crispy pizza with all the toppings, followed by a game of shuffleboard or beer pong. 

They have karaoke nights, and pool tables, something for you to get stuck into and to have some fun for a few hours with a pint in hand. 

It’s a wonderful party space for larger groups and the staff are always amazing, cheery, and welcoming.

You can’t go wrong with a bit of live music and a weekly quiz night either!

5. Golf Fang  

Fore! Is there more fun to be had than a night of adult crazy golf? We don’t think so! 

18 holes of crazy golf with loads of different themes (including a nightclub hole and a Blockbusters store), graffiti on the walls, and an incredible, large venue and food hall. 

The team behind the course put some thought into its design. Expect a fun but challenging 18-hole round of crazy golf. 

You’ll have loads of laughs and stop at plenty of places for a selfie to post on Insta! 

This gaming bar is a 20-minute walk away or an 8-minute drive away from your student home, if you fancy a few tipples then of course it’s gotta be an Uber.

6. FirePit Rocks  

When it comes to gaming bars, FirePit Rocks is just a 3-minute walk down the same street as Straits Manor – it’s the perfect spot to party with ease! 

A destination venue where you’ll spend most of your days and nights if you can. 

Juicy burgers, ribs, hot dogs, and loaded fries for lunch, washed down with some Cherry Cola and then the gaming. 

There is big sports memorabilia on the walls, some games consoles on tables and even PS5s in there where you can play the latest FIFA with your mates, tournament style.

7. Meltdown 

Just under a 10-minute walk from Straits Manor, Meltdown is a hidden gem when it comes to games bars Sheffield has to offer. 

There are gaming computers, games consoles, and a party atmosphere whenever you go there! 

There’s an extensive cocktail and mocktail menu too, so you can enjoy a few drinks whilst you challenge your mates to a game. 

Expect classic, retro games and high nostalgia!

8. Belong Gaming Arena 

High-end, modern gaming computers, esports tournaments, and a wide range of video games. 

The Belong Gaming Arenas are something else for gamers. 

Pay either ÂŁ5 for an hour’s worth of gaming or a ÂŁ20 monthly subscription to go as often as you want, this is a gamer’s paradise for single people or groups of friends. 

It’s a really relaxed vibe and you’re promised a good time with your pals. 

This gaming bar is just a 10-minute stroll away from Straits Manor; there’s no complaints!
